Throughout the spring and summer, artists, writers and critics come together at the Burnaby Art Gallery to create a lively and engaging series of free, informal talks and exchanges related to the art created by Canadian senior and contemporary artists.

Rhododendron Festival

Gardeners and artists have a lot in common approaching the colour, texture and composition of their creations. Spend time on our veranda-turned-studio, designing the garden of your dreams as an abstracted colourful collage and painting. Instructor Lor Schneider introduces basic composition elements for creating aerial view garden maps and plans using paper cut-outs, oil pastel and colour washes.

Join us for an evening of live “fax” music, drawing and faxing.  Live music by local sound artists: Richard Minardi of The Cat Wrangleurs playing ambient music alongside noise artist Chris Hixon of Baboon Torture Division picking up electromagnetic emissions in the human audible tone spectrum from the fax machine itself.  The event will take place indoors/outdoors (second floor veranda) - please dress accordingly.

Open the B.A.G.  New!

Burnaby Art Gallery’s Spring Open House
Saturday, April 10,  12-3p.m.
Explore the many facets of the Burnaby Art Gallery during this afternoon of tours, demonstrations and program samplers. 
Gallery tours starts at 12noon, 1 pm and 2 pm and include the current exhibit, history of Ceperley House, Art Rental and Sales and our new Library Resource Room. 
Looking for advice on conservation and framing artworks from your collection? Curator Darrin Martens and Exhibition Coordinator/Preparator Bob MacIntyre offer consultations on a first-come, first-served basis. 
Complimentary samplers of upcoming adult programs are also available, but space is limited and pre-registration is required; call 604-277-4422.
