Action Art
Mondays, January 18 – April 26, 2010
Looking at how our bodies move, this workshop emphasizes observation and action in the human figure. Beginning with energetic contour line drawings, students then move into learning about measurement and proportions at their grade level. Modelling clay is used to construct a mini figure in action. Connections to science, math and the Olympics.

East Meets West
Tuesdays, March 2 – May 18, 2010
Asian and European artists have inspired one another for centuries. In this workshop, students investigate traditional Eastern and Western artworks in a variety of subjects. They learn to use brush, ink and watercolour paint by experimenting with techniques from each tradition. Applying their new skills, they create their own mixed media image that incorporates elements seen in both styles.

Grey Winter, Golden Spring
Wednesdays, February 3 – May 12, 2010
BC artist Gordon Smith has influenced generations of Canadian artists. Explore how he and other Canadian artists use colour, texture, and energy to show the seasons of our province. Using collograph printmaking and chalks, students create vibrant landscape artworks that contrast the colours and moods of the seasons.
