The Burnaby Art Gallery provides access to and interpretation of contemporary visual art in alternative venues throughout the City of Burnaby. Themed exhibitions created from the permanent collection and emerging artists’ works comprise the Burnaby public library exhibit program. The McGill and Bob Prittie libraries are the main branches where exhibitions occur. Exhibitions are traditionally between 35 and 60 days in length and reference topical subjects within the art world and media related news and information. All exhibits are curated and organized by the Burnaby Art Gallery.
At Bob Prittie Library:
Collaged Print Works by Julie McIntyre
July 5 - August 29, 2010
Quilt making, (albeit with paper), was chosen because this series is rooted in Julie McIntyre's home life where she still needs an artistic outlet from motherhood and part-time jobs. As generations of women before her understood, quilt making can work with small blocks of concentrated time, material and space, and from these fractured ingredients evolve into a complete piece (peace).
